What a Super Sweet Mom Thinks About Recruiting for Good’s The Sweetest Gigs

in Mar 21, 2023

Since connecting with Carlos at Recruiting For Good over two years ago, my three daughters (ages 15, 13 and 11) have been involved in a variety of exciting and engaging opportunities during which they have been able to express their creativity and actively involve their communities.

After starting with cookie and chocolate reviews (what child wouldn’t be hooked immediately when their "job" was to taste sweet treats and give their opinions?!), my girls were eager to be placed on additional gigs from Recruiting For Good.  Carlos appreciated their enthusiasm, attention to detail and work ethic, and rewarded them with additional chances to prove themselves. My daughters have worked on creative writing gigs and imaginative drawing projects, along with super secret missions where they get to report about exciting things happening around them. Carlos connected them with successful female entrepreneurs and gave them the chance to be enlightened by women who run their own businesses - artists, designers, bakers and visionaries.

After months of proving themselves and being mentored by Carlos, two of my daughters were given the gift of creating their own initiatives to encourage their fellow athletes (softball players for my oldest, and dancers for my middle child) to do good both on the field and off (in and out of the dance studio) by getting involved in community service events. They spent hours answering thought provoking questions that really made them consider their goals and their leadership styles, and had many discussions with Carlos about how they wanted to set an example and create a path for others to follow. Carlos wants my daughters to know that they have a voice and that they should be confident in their decisions. It's okay to make mistakes or change your opinion after you've attempted something, but you should never be afraid to try something new.

As Carlos became more familiar with my girls' interests and strengths, and they began to gravitate towards different genres, we started to create even more individualized gigs. My eldest daughter who enjoys photography and beauty now takes photos, reviews beauty products and writes about inspirational women. My middle daughter, who has a passion for fashion, has had the opportunity to interview fashion designers and write articles, one of which was recently published online for LA Parent. She has designed t-shirts and sweatshirts, reviews clothing and shoes, and is building her fashion resume. My youngest loves video, so her reviews now involve a story recorded on camera with brief written explanations. My girls all love feeling empowered, strong and like they are making a creative difference. They also love being paid for their efforts, talent and diligence.

Every idea that Carlos has for new gigs, rewards or opportunities is first presented to me, as their mom. Every email sent between Carlos and the girls has me copied on it. Carlos is completely professional and has stressed from the beginning that I remain involved in every conversation. We've had so many 1-1 talks ourselves that I feel like I have a mentor and a friend too!

Our involvement with RFG has boosted the girls' confidence and allowed them to expand their horizons. They are maturing into more honest, responsible and passionate human beings, who know hard work results in big rewards. Gift cards, chocolate, donations to our favorite non-profit organizations, sweet treats for special people in our lives, and parties at the completion of a gig are all nice, but knowing that you did a great job and finding success in your endeavors is really the ultimate prize!
